SALEM ARTS FESTIVAL FASHION SHOW FUNDRAISER, 2019
The theme of the 2019 Salem Arts Festival Fashion Show Fundraiser examined roots and how they are expressed. As an adopted person, the topic of nature/nurture is fascinating. I have certainly absorbed much of who I am from my adopted family, but I wonder what else lurks in my DNA and where that part of me shows up. Who am I if I don't share a drop of blood with the people I love? Headpieces made of recycled formal wear and wire. Photography by John Andrews, Creative Collective. Lights by Joey Nicotera, Retonica.
RUBBISH TO RUNWAY, 2019
"ghosts in my machine"
These headpieces were done for "Rubbish to Runway," a fundraiser in which all looks must be made of up-cycled trash. The materials used below include plastic packaging, sheer curtains, foam upholstery remnants. These pieces became an exploration of how our longing to be free, untamed, winds its way through constraints of contemporary society, laying dormant for a time, but ultimately demanding expression.
